Examples
of painting the interior overhead. The lights will ultimately be
fully functional in both white and night-vision red. |
Another
overhead shot. Long term plans are to replace the speakers with a PC
5.1 surround system. |
The
almost-finished exterior paint job. The black stripe has been re-done, and
the edging applied to where the sim meets the floor. Cool caution
tape, too! |
The
Northwest Airlines banner was included as part of the deal when we
acquired the flight sim. |
Here's a
pic on Donald working on the overhead. Why the hard hat?
Because these cockpits are tiny! We kept hitting our heads... ouch! |
Here's
the template to cut out the flooring material for the back portion of the
flight deck. |
Here's a
close-up of the flooring material. This is actually garage floor
material, and for under $230, we got enough to do the whole flight deck. |
Another
picture of Donald, this time installing the flooring. |
Here's
part of my temporary flying setup, a full GoFlight concole including their
throttle. |
Here's
a cheap, temporary flight yoke idea: take a 24" length of black gas pipe,
thread two flooring connectors on each end, screw one into the flight
deck, and the other into a small piece of plywood. Attach the CH
flight yoke to the plywood and viola! |
The
temporary flight deck setup. The desk chairs aren't authentic, but
boy, they sure are comfy! I need to figure out just exactly how do
pilots climb into their seats in real cockpits? Space is at a
premium! |
Here's
a somewhat blurry shot of me flying. The blank screen in front of
the 'pit is actually a projection screen, and I'm using an LCD projector
to display the outside scenery. |
